WebProtect uses both rule-based and pattern-recognition technology
to provide detection and removal capabilities for known computer
viruses. Its virus scanning component is automatically activated
whenever Web access takes place, but can be configured to ignore
graphics, audio and multimedia file types such as GIF, JPEG, MPEG
and AVI, which cannot carry viruses. This minimizes the impact on
system performance.
