License File Upgrades - Upgrade an older license file to version 3.0 standards.
Any license file created with older versions of GAPS will need to be upgraded
to version 3.0 standards. You can now upgrade the license file without having
to create a new file. All the new information added by you and any other
information needed in the license file will be added to the file during the
upgrade process. The license file will then be compatible with version 3.0.
Lock To - There will be three separate Lock To options in version 3.0. Lock
To System, Lock To User, and Lock To Company. The Lock To System feature will
allow you to lock a license file to one system. The Lock To User will allow
you to lock a license file to any system using the same Windows registered
user name. The Lock To Company will allow you to lock a license file to any
system using the same Windows registered company name.
Registration Information - The GAPSX control will allow you to use the new
GetRegInfo property to past registration information to an email. By setting
the GetRegInfo to True with code, your end user can then past the information
in an email and send you the information for registration. The information
will provide you with the Windows registered user name and registered user
company, operating system, and operating system version. The information can
then be compiled into your license file.
Default Settings - A new OPTIONS section will be added to the GAPS interface
that will allow you to set default settings such as the default folder to save
the license file to and the default folder to open when viewing or editing a
license file. You will also have the option to override the default folder
settings.
Log File- By default, GAPS will create a log file of every license file that
you create. The log file will include the date the license file was created,
license file name, license file type, user ID, and the license file version.
The Log File can also be edited to add the date that a license file was issued
to an end user.
