010 Editor is a powerful hex editor designed to quickly and
easily edit binary files. Hex editors are used to edit the
individual bytes of any file. The editor can load files of
any size instantly, and features unlimited undo and redo on
all editing operations. 010 Editor combines an easy-to-use
interface with a set of sophisticated analysis tools to
provide one of the most powerful hex editors
available.
One of the most powerful features of 010 Editor
is the ability to parse virtually any binary file by using a
Binary Template. A Binary Template looks similar to a C/C++
structure but actually runs as a program and may contain
conditional statements, expressions, functions, etc (see
Introduction to Templates and Scripts for more information).
010 Editor is also scriptable using a language similar to C.
Scripts can be used in conjunction with templates to provide
a powerful method of editing files.
A variety of other
useful tools are included with 010 Editor. Tools are included
for finding or replacing data, comparing binary files,
creating histograms, running checksum/hash algorithms,
converting files, etc. Data can be easily interpreted in a
number of different formats using the Inspector, or printed
using the Print tools. This program features the powerful
DynaBin Data engine, which allows huge files to be opened,
and large blocks of memory to be copied to the clipboard with
ease.
